Thursday Night Football FanDuel Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 5 Rams-Seahawks single-game tournaments

This week’s edition of Thursday Night Football serves an appetizing NFC West showdown between the Rams and Seahawks. This game opened with over/under lines as high as 54.5, so this matchup is a DFS player’s dream, as it comes with the promise of plenty of scoring. That gives us plenty of viable picks for our FanDuel single-game lineup.

Before we break down our lineup, here are the key settings for FanDuel single-game contests: The point total for the “MVP” is multiplied by 1.5, but he doesn’t cost any additional money like the “Captain” in DraftKings Showdown contests. FanDuel’s default scoring is half-point PPR and four-point passing TDs, and there are no bonuses for 100/300-yard games like on DraftKings.

FanDuel Single-Game DFS Picks: Jaguars vs. Bengals

$60,000 budget, need at least one player from each team

MVP (1.5x points) WR Cooper Kupp, Rams ($14,000)

Kupp was bound to hit a speed bump at some point this season, and that’s what he encountered Sunday. On the bright side, Kupp’s 13 targets marked a season-high, and he’s entrenched as Matthew Stafford’s go-to receiver.

FLEX QB Matthew Stafford, Rams ($16,000)

Stafford experienced his first dud in his new digs, so one can imagine he’s thankful for the quick turnaround. A trip to Lumen Field isn’t going to be easy, but even Vegas sportsbooks opened the game as a “pick ’em,” so the expectation is Stafford and the Rams are in for a bounce-back performance. Russell Wilson fits into this build, as well, if you prefer the Seahawks’ signal-caller.

FLEX RB Darrell Henderson Jr., Rams ($13,000)

Henderson handled 19 touches in his return from a one-week absence (ribs) and produced a respectable 14.1 FanDuel points. The short week isn’t ideal, but Henderson has been utilized both on the ground and through the air. He’ll take aim at a Seahawks defense that has been victimized by running attacks this season.

FLEX WR Van Jefferson, Rams ($9,000)

It has been a bit of an underrated start to the season for the second-year receiver as he’s established himself as a reliable third target behind Kupp and Robert Woods. He’s delivered 15- and 18-point FanDuel performances and is coming off back-to-back games of six targets. He’s probably not going to see much more volume than that, but he’s averaging 12.6 yards per target and 17.4 yards per catch, so he’s made the most of his limited opportunities. Jefferson is a bit of a home run swing, so if you’re more interested in a base hit up the middle, kicker Matt Gay ($9,000) should see a healthy dose of action. The Rams have averaged 2.2 field goal attempts per game (tied for fifth most) while the Seahawks have allowed 2.5 field goal attempts per contest (tied for third most).

WEEK 5 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Start ’em, sit ’em

FLEX WR Freddie Swain, Seahawks ($6,500)

We know the attention and targets K Metcalf and Tyler Lockett will command, and Swain’s 12 targets are hardly worth a second look. However, the significance of him being the third most targeted pass-catcher shouldn’t be overlooked when big-play hunting. With Jalen Ramsey presumably keying on one of the top two receivers on each play, Swain figures to have chances to shine.
