Thursday Night Football DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 5 Rams-Seahawks Showdown tournaments

The Rams and Seahawks have had some fun, explosive matchups in recent years, and the expectation is that their game on Thursday Night Football will follow suit. There’s no shortage of worthwhile options for DraftKings Showdown lineups, and we’re choosing to go heavy on the L.A. passing game. You could just as easily stack the Seattle passing options in your NFL DFS single-game contest, so this is really a pick-your-poison lineup build.

A reminder of the most notable scoring settings for DraftKings Showdowns: It’s full-point PPR, and there are three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain pick costs 1.5 times a player’s original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Rams vs. Seahawks

$50,000 budget, need at least one player from each team.

Captain (1.5x value, 1.5x points): QB Matthew Stafford, Rams ($17,100)

Stafford is coming off a mediocre outing, but we’re naming him our Captain nonetheless. His connection with Cooper Kupp has already proven to be electric, and he has a number of other weapons at his disposal if Sean McVay’s desire to spread the ball a bit more comes to fruition.

FLEX: WR Cooper Kupp, Rams ($12,400)

McVay spoke this week about wanting to get more players involved in the passing game, but we’re not shying away from the NFL’s target and touchdown leader, especially with a Vegas total that opened as high as 53.5. Even if he shares a few extra targets this week, Kupp will remain a premium option on Thursday and in games moving forward.

WEEK 5 DFS LINEUPS: FanDuel | DraftKings | Yahoo

FLEX: WR Robert Woods, Rams ($7,600)

They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Woods doesn’t rank particularly high on the wide receiver diva scale, but something has led McVay to publicly suggest that he intends to get Woods more involved. We know Woods can go off for 20-30 DraftKings points if he gets enough volume.

FLEX: WR Van Jefferson, Rams ($4,800)

We’re big-play hunting with Jefferson, but he comes with a higher floor than a typical all-or-nothing option. He’s played 76 percent of snaps and his targets have increased over the early juncture of the season. He’s racked up 80-plus yards and a touchdown on a pair of occasions already, and he could be counted on again if Kupp and Woods command too much of Seattle’s attention.

WEEK 5 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX: WR Freddie Swain, Seahawks ($4,600)

We know DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett lead the Seahawks in targets by a wide margin. We also know the Rams’ Jalen Ramsey will be asked to erase one or the other throughout the night. Swain is the clear No. 3, checking in with a 61.8 percent snap count and 12 targets. The volume is obviously nothing worthy of a bust in Canton, but if he’s going to be “elevated” to the No. 2 option with Ramsey locking down Metcalf or Lockett, we could see him find the paint like he did in Weeks 2 and 4.

WEEK 5 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX: RB Alex Collins, Seahawks ($3,200)

Starting running back Chris Carson missed Tuesday and Wednesday practices because of a neck injury. The Seahawks are planning to make him a game-time decision, but either way, this sounds like it could be another game where Collins gets plenty of work. He turned 12 touches into 78 total yards and a touchdown in Week 4 and could have a similar game against a Rams defense that was just carved up by two different Cardinals’ running backs last week.
